Market Research Questionnaire & Results*
Results:
6 of the respondents to my questionnaire are female, 7 of them are male and the others are either non-binary or undefined. This shows that the majority of people who answered my questionnaire are male.
73.3% of the people who did my questionnaire have experience in making 3D animations, which is a good thing because it shows that if they're willing to be a part of my animation school, they'll be more likely to succeed because they have more experience and knowledge in 3D Animation. However, even if any students who join my school haven't had experience, it's perfectly fine since that is what my business is about - teaching people how to create 3D animations.
80% of people have said that they don't have experience and they would like to learn 3D animation, which shows that a vast majorty of my respondents are very passionate about animation, which is my target audience.
100% of the people have said that my mission statement fits with my business idea - one of the respondents messaged me to say they accidentally said no, but they were meant to say yes.
There is a variety of opinions with my logo, most of them are all positive thoughts, very short and straight to the point. Some have even given some proper criticism in what I could perhaps change to improve it and make it the best it can be, which is exactly what I was hoping for because it allows me to see what kind of direction others would go in if they had to make my logo. I will use this criticism to my advantage and improve my logo for my business.
There is a clear trend in what seems to be people's favourite animated movies, most people have mentioned Disney/Pixar, but here are all of the films that were most mentioned from the responses I got:
- Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse - 4 people
- Wall-E - 3 people
- the Toy Story movies - 4 people
- How to Train your Dragon - 2 people
There isn't really an average price that people have given, they've all varied from many prices from roughly £30 to £580. This gives me a rough idea of how much people are willing to pay for animation lessons per term. Some are willing to pay a lot, and some are willing to pay less.
There has been an equal amount of responses to both of these questions, they both have a majority of 66.7% - for the first question, the majority prefer to have private lessons. This is most likely due to them having a busy schedule and not wanting to be the reason that others miss out on a lesson, or they prefer to work alone.
For the second question, majority have preferred for their animation lessons to be face to face, however that can cause issues as it'll mean students have to worry about travel and potential accommodations if they are to have lessons face to face. Lessons online are a lot easier and convenient as students or teachers don't have to worry about travel.
46.7% of the respondents have said they would like to learn all of the above, which shows they are very ambitious and willing to learn all the skills needed to being an animator. The second highest amount of people that picked an answer is for Storyboards, showing there are people more on the artsy side of creating and planning out the story for animated pieces. The least favourited option appears to be Model Rigging, Character Modelling and Rendering, which is understandable as these are rather complex skills to learn, especially character modelling and rigging. But at least they are some people who are willing to try learn that. There is an equal amount of people who have either said they want to learn animation to get a job in the creative industry or to do it as a hobby. The rest have been new answers they have given, either because they want to do both, they're not sure on their decisions yet or just because they enjoy doing it.
