What is the DCMS and what do they do?
The Digital, Culture, Media & Sports Department (DCMS) helps to drive growth, enrich lives and promote Britain to nations abroad. It protects and promotes Britain's cultural and artistic heritage, helps businesses and communities to grow by investing in innovation. It also helps the UK by giving it a unique advantage on the global stage, striving for economic success.

Some of the DCMS's most recent announcements are:
- Government funds new tech in the fight against online child abuse: New innovative technology has been created to help stop the spread of child sexual abuse material on end-to-end encrypted social media and online messaging platforms (e.g. Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter) thanks to government funding. (Published October 17th 2021)
- Two-minute silence as the nation remembers: A national 2-minute silence took place on the 11th hour on November 11th to honour the lives of soldiers who died in the First World War, fighting for our country and our lives. (Published on November 14th 2021)
- Better broadband for 500,000 rural homes in UK gigabit revolution: 500,000+ more rural homes and businesses will be given access to better broadband under plans to level up the nation with improved internet connectivity. (Published October 29th 2021)
- How can creativity and technology be harnessed for good?: Nigel Huddleston, the Minister for Sport, Tourism, Heritage and Civil Society, delivered a speech to the World Expo Dubai 2020 CREATE Breakthrough Moment Summit. (Published October 12th 2021)
- Government's Covid-19 charity support fund delivers hope to 6.5 million people across the country: Funds have helped in reducing loneliness, improving support for mental health and charities for young people across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic. (Published October 11th 2021)
